Co-­operatives and Mutuals Canada (CMC) is a member-­driven association that supports, promotes and unites cooperative and mutual organizations.

Entering their second year, they’re looking for a research-­oriented individual to join the team. The selected candidate will work with the Manager of Research and Education on a variety of projects aimed at better understanding the sector and disseminating results from various studies and initiatives.This is a summer student position.

Job Opportunity – Chair, Co-operative Enterprises, University of Winnipeg

The Department of Business and Administration in the Faculty of Business and Economics at The University of Winnipeg invites applications for a Chair in Co-operative Enterprises. This tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor is expected to commence on July 1, 2015 or January 1, 2016.

Along with developing and maintaining an independent research program, the successful candidate will develop new courses in co-operative enterprises in consultation with the Department and the co-operative sector toward an undergraduate concentration in the area. The teaching load will encompass established courses in the emerging co-operative concentration, introductory business (BUS 1201; covers forms of business ownership, including co-operatives), and may include not-for-profit management until the concentration is established.

Seeking Research and Communications Assistant (summer student)

EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY: Research and Communications Assistant (Temporary) with Co-operatives and Mutuals Canada

GENERAL DESCRIPTION: The Research and Communications Assistant (RCA) will work with the Manager of Research and Education to communicate new knowledge about co-operatives and community development. The position will support the major dissemination initiatives of a 5 year research project measuring the impact of co-operative businesses on communities across Canada. The RCA will take leadership in developing web content, supporting the development of webinars, print materials, infographics and other communications materials.

Centre for the Study of Co-ops Hiring Project Director

POSITION: Project Director
Centre for the Study of Co-operatives University of Saskatchewan

Deadline: December 31, 2013

Primary Purpose: To coordinate the work of multiple stakeholders (employee; funder; communities, researchers and partner institutions) in the execution of a two-year project that is designed to develop a transformative model and innovative action plan to support co-operative development in rural and Aboriginal communities in Western Canada. The Project Director will be responsible for project management and specifically, overseeing the research and communication activities. The Project Director will also be active in fundraising efforts that will be undertaken to support the initiative beyond 2015. As a primary responsibility, the Project Director will work closely with the Project Management Group to prepare a comprehensive report – including the identification of specific co-operative development initiatives that may be initiated beginning in 2016.
