The webinar will feature presentations by two researchers currently working on projects related to measuring co-op impact, George Karaphilis of Cape Breton University and Nicoleta Uzea of the University of Western Ontario.  Dr. Fiona Duguid, Research Officer at the Canadian Co-operative Association will also provide an overview of the new National Study on the Impact of Co-operatives. Call for papers-Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics

Society for the Advancement of Socio-Economics (SASE) mini-conference on Innovation and Entrepreneurship for social change – University of Milan – June 27-29, 2013

This Mini-conference aims to capture the next generation of studies exploring innovation and entrepreneurship for social change.  What you need to do is submit a 1,000 words abstract by January 15, 2015 through SASE’s automated system.  Make sure that you select the correct mini-conference (we are # 9).

New Institute at UVic! Co-operative Institute for Peace and Social Inclusion

The Institute will explore generally how co-operatives contribute, directly and indirectly, to more peaceful communities through the application of their values and principles, their capacity to include people from different backgrounds and their concentration on specific, achievable objectives. The Institute will be formally established on January 1, 2013.

It will be located in the Centre for Global Studies at the University of Victoria. The Executive Committee consists of: Charles Gould, Executive Director of the International Co-operative Alliance, Yehudah Paz from the Negev Institute for Strategies of Peace and Development, Ian MacPherson, Emeritus Professor of History, the University of Victoria. A fourth person, yet to be appointed, will come from the Centre for Global Studies. An Advisory Board of 14 people, drawn from around the world as well as Victoria, is being appointed.

New Co-operative Enterprises Chair at University of Winnipeg
